House Tour: Living Room

It's been 7 months of living in our house and I have yet to show any photos because of course I want things perfectly done, but I am told by every single homeowner I'll be saying that 30 years from now. So, here goes the living room.

Before
(and this is after my in laws and dad helped rip up the light mauve carpeting.)
Sadly the wood floors were beyond repair. No HGTV luck here for salvaging!

I searched high and low for yellow curtains and ended up finding this fabric that seemed rather bold on the bolt, but turned out to be the punch I wanted. They have a traditional print but the color makes them contemporary, at least in my eyes. Major thanks to my mom for making them.

We gifted our newlywed Craig's List couches to the Goodwill to make room for the new sofa and loveseat from Living Spaces. And because our office/would-be-guest bedroom is a pass-through, we opted for a sleeper sofa and it's already received a trial run from Melisa at the cousin Christmas party this year.

The most dramatic change beyond painting the walls and mantle is obviously the floors. Scott acted as sous chef to our contractor who cut laid them and they are glorious. There are times that I know he really misses carpeting, but everything feels so clean and we do have a white shag rug underneath the coffee table, as well as our bedroom when desired.

The room is definitely our favorite in the home, probably because it is the most done. Like I said earlier, there are still additions I'd like to make-get rid of the floor lamp and find a petite table lamp for below the clock, figure out something to put on either side of the fireplace as it seems a little bare, and maybe add an accent chair.

In the mean time, we love it!

Touch of Class

Touch of Class, I'm not sure how my husband got on your mailing list, but I'd certainly like to find out! His style has certainly changed since we registered.

"Ballet"

"Majesty"

I have 20% discount codes if anyone wants them!

Addiction

I look forward to the weekends for several reasons:
-sleeping in, naturally (though, sidenote, this has been 730-8 as of late, wth?)
-time with Scott
-relaxing
-marathons on HGTV

My name is Erin and I am addicted to home shows.

There is something about Property Virgins, House Hunters, Sell this House, and even House Hunters International (hi, northern Italy yesterday!) that just have me salivating. I suppose it's just internal longing for a real house complete with yard and a little more privacy than an apartment complex provides, or perhaps the gleaming wood floors and seeing my peers purchasing their first abode. Just a preview for a show will have me planted on the couch for hours (post-workout, thankyouverymuch.)

In terms of the flipping shows, those I will still watch but mostly the people annoy me. They have sage guidance from realtors and other experts who tell them exactly what to do to sell their second mortgage aka the cancerous sore on their financial record, and inevitably, they go the wrong direction and buy $1300 showers with massagers, seats, and pedicure stations. REALLY? While I love the spa, I am comfortable with just a shower head and knobs for controlling the heat.

Anyways, kind of random but I think I am slowly luring the boy into these shows too, or at least the flipping. You can rest assured I especially love the ones where they are in the south :)

Home Hunting

Is no fun. We have minimal requests:

-2 bed/2 bath
-townhome (ideally)
-washer/dryer included would be AWESOME
-refridgerator included would again, be AWESOME
-nice neighborhood-safe
-garage, and I would take detached
-some greenery or patio or garden passing off as a lawn
-not a mega complex
-food, dining, shops nearby

Are you out there home?
