On the Move

Well, that So Cal conglomerate developer would not play hardball with us so we have given our apartment community notice and will be out of here come May 10.

No house has been secured, but fingers are crossed for some action this week. If that does not happen in the next few days or coming weeks, we shall be looking for a place with a month to month lease, so if you know of any in the OC area, do let me know!

Let the packing and purging begin. For all of my friends celebrating Passover today, this one is for you: Oy Vey.

Sunday Confessions

I am a rule follower to the letter, but a direction follower not so much. I like shortcuts in life where I can get them-board games, measurements, crafts. A tried and true "eye-baller" who, in the words of Tim Gunn, makes it work. These shortcuts, in the way of information gathering, drive Scott B-A-N-A-N-A-S. I think it takes the top spot on his list of my annoyances. He always tells me to research things on my own (hence my Michael Scott tendencies to Wikipedia.) The information is always appreciated. I just like the quickest, most efficient way to get there. Which for me, is my own personal Wiki-Scott.

Rompers

It is nothing new that fashion goes in cycles, and what was once considered ghastly can now be found fabulous. Hip huggers, bell bottoms, pedal pushers, even crop tops (dear God) have come and gone, only to return reworked, and embraced by fashionistas (or those who claim to be-looking at you Glamour Don'ts!) worldwide.

The latest garment to find itself gracing the glossies again is the romper. For those who are unfamiliar with the romper, I give you the handy, dandy, go-to source, Wikipedia:

A
romper suit is a one-piece garment worn by children and sometimes women. Somewhat similar to a coverall, it is loose fitting and usually has shorter legs that may be gathered at the end. Puffed pants are particularly associated with rompers. Rompers usually are meant as a combination of shorts and a shirt, though the term can include jumpers, one-piece bathing suits, and clubwear fashions to name a few.

I haven't seen many women wearing these on the actual streets of Orange County, unless you count OC Housewife Vicki, who donned a romper on the show, but even then it was in her backyard, and sorry Vicki, I think these have an age limit.

I am not sure whether to embrace and run away from the one-pieced marvel. As Wikipedia wisely noted, it can be construed as 'clubwear.' To me, that means it would be found at Fashion Bug in the skanky section, made of a polyester blend, and accessorized with plastic shoes that may sparkle. No dice.

However, companies that embrace cotton and other natural fabrics have been putting out a retro, vintage look of the famed romper and I must admit I might try one on. How cute would this be with espadrilles and red lipstick?

We'll see if I actually go for it. This is the first one I have seen with a suitable print and acceptable fabric. Damn puff sleeves get me every time; I am a sucker for those.

Friday Night Pensieve

What a week. Friday night is drawing to a close and I find it just simply easier to bullet point what went on and what is upcoming.
  • Work is insanely crazy, the I'm-going-to-faint-I-am-so-hungry-it's-3:00-and-I-havent-had-lunch-yet crazy. Big event this week and next.
  • Going to get a massage tomorrow. Sweet Jesus I can't wait.
  • Atticus is driving us crazy at night. He is ripping up the bottom of the bed and I have no idea how to solve this behavior of his.
  • Still nothing on the house front, though considering the idea of a duplex. We shall see.
  • Had a great dinner tonight with old friends, affectionately known as my Asian posse. They know, it's ok, even if it sounds politically incorrect in the blogging world. We even went to a Vietnamese restaurant, so I was the minority.
  • I think I exercised once this week. That is very bad.
  • I dreamed I was arrested last night because I broke into Scott's hotel room. But then he was also the cop. It was like a major conspiracy of sorts. All day I was paranoid because of this damn dream.
  • I entered a contest for the "Ellen" show on Tuesday. She tweeted asking if a kid in your house was a Harry Potter nut, to let her know. So I did. I am someone's kid, even if I don't live in their house anymore. I think a 7-year-old and I in a face-off over HP trivia is daytime tv gold. Wouldn't you? That would totally beat Oprah on one of her lamer book club days. I'd throw that 2nd grader under the bus if it meant a first edition set, or you know, to win the Sorting Hat and be proclaimed Harry Potter Queen of the Day (Year, preferably).
  • Some people believe life on earth is about doing good things and making it a great place for those who live here after us, walking with various deities, etc. I am really starting to believe it's about developing an extreme amount of patience and tolerance for the idiots in the world. Truly, I find my happy place (Fiji, if you're interested) about 12876 times a day. Is that what it's all about?
Fin. Time for a glass of wine. But only a glass. I know not to be an imbicile I must drink wine like Jesus-one glass is probably enough.

Erin Go Bragh Beer Cupcakes

Yes, you read that correctly. Beer and cupcakes. Guinness and chocolate. Might take over the notable pairings of cheese and wine, peanut butter and chocolate, peanut butter and jelly, Nutella and everything else...you get the point.

Chocolate Stout Cupcakes-recipe found here.

The recipe calls for a bottle of Guinness and includes cream cheese frosting. Bliss. Kerri tells me there is a recipe that even has Bailey's in the frosting. You can bet that will be next.

I have no idea what took me so long to do this. Enjoy your corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, Smithwick's, Guinness, or beverage of choice on this fine day, avoid a pinch, and a Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of my Irish and "Irish" friends today. Erin Go Bragh!

Sunday Confessions

Sometimes, one can drink too much wine. And then, come Sunday, pay the consequences. Jesus liked wine, but he was always so responsible, the model Jerusalem citizen. I'll try to be more like that next time.

Lucky?

This guy landed on my windshield while I was at the supermarket and hung around, eerily staring at me, for over 20 minutes and the course of two miles. He was either bringing me some crazy luck or planning to take over Fullerton.

I am still a 13-year-old girl when it comes to signs, as in "if the next song on the radio is 'I Saw the Sign,' I know (insert boy's name) likes me!" Well, I wasn't planning on it, but Muse played twice, in a row, on two different stations, and it was my favorite song of theirs, "Starlight."

Perhaps any luck I garnered was just avoiding that short bus across the street.
